Program Funding and Assessments
The Montana Reinsurance Program is funded through federal pass-through funding and a 1.2% assessment on major medical health insurance premiums (excluding self-funded group plans), as authorized in Section 33-22-1313, MCA.
Total funding for the reinsurance program for 2020 is estimated to be approximately between $12 million and $13 million.
